- Oversee chiller and heat pump equipment designs and sub-systems from concept generation through the release of design deliverables. This includes heat exchangers, compressors, controls, electrical, general assembly, and any other required subsystems.
- Ensure the proper engineering specifications and requirements are applied to drive the selection and qualification of all components and assemblies.
- Travel domestically 5-10% of the time to interact with colleagues working on chiller and heat pump products.
- Lead concept design reviews, technical design reviews, detailed model reviews, and drawing reviews for components, sub-systems, and the overall chiller/heat pump system.
- Collaborate with the cross functional engineering team to create and modify DFMEA and DVP&R to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Partner with the manufacturing project leader and the manufacturing engineering team to incorporate design for manufacturing (DFM) principles into the product design.
- Team with product management, manufacturing, quality, and project management to develop requirements and track compliance to the agreed upon requirements.
- Own the product cost models; ensure the projected cost meets the agreed upon cost requirement.
- Function as the lead engineer ensuring due diligence is applied throughout the design process through coaching, mentoring and oversight of the design team.
- General knowledge of one or more manufacturing processes to enable the coaching and mentoring of the design team on DFM.
- Effectively communicate both written and orally.
- Experience using PLM and CAD systems (preferably Creo).
- Schedule development and resource planning.
- Design or application experience with building HVAC products
- Data manipulation in Excel or Tableau.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in an Engineering discipline.
- Proven project delivery in conducting new technology and new product development projects to improve the function, reliability, or cost of products and components.
- 7+ years of work experience in design or manufacturing of durable goods, commercial/industrial equipment is required.
