- Work safely- follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including proper PPE, LOTO, confined spaces, and hot work permits; abide by all company policies
- Operate refrigeration system effectively; monitor systems, setpoints, temperatures, and pressures to ensure proper chilling and efficient operation
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild a variety of refrigeration equipment, including, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and water chillers
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair boiler equipment
- Assist maintenance personnel with equipment failures
- Make recommendations regarding operating strategies, setpoints, and limits
- Keep work areas and storage areas clean and organized
- Perform scheduled and unplanned maintenance
- Perform system inspections and mechanical integrity checks
- Follow all standard safety practices associated with Ammonia refrigeration
- Assist operator with electrical problems related to the refrigeration system
- Assist operator with all repairs and maintenance of the industrial refrigeration system
- Monitor and perform minor functions on our computer-controlled refrigeration system
- Understand and follow Process Safety Management (PSM) & Risk Management Plan (RMP) compliance as it applies to our Ammonia Refrigeration facility
- Operate a variety of equipment as needed – i.e. forklift, scissor lift, boom lift, etc.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Complete assigned PMs on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
- Answer radio calls immediately and communicate effectively with all production team members including management
- Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Possess or be able to learn basic computer skills; ability to learn to use Maintenance Connection and UltiPro
- Must be able to understand and explain the ammonia refrigeration system cycle
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Possess the basic tools required for the job
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling 75 pounds, climbing ladders, standing, crawling, stooping, twisting, kneeling, working in confined spaces, working from heights, working in physically demanding situations, and safely working around hazardous chemicals or equipment.
- Must be able to work around blood, carcasses, viscera, etc.
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three (3) years of industrial refrigeration experience and have the qualifications to become licensed; technical or vocational training may be substituted as partial experience
- Have or be able to achieve CARO (Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator) or CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) certification through RETA (Refrigeration Engineers & Technicians Association)
