
HSB-CDI Health Education Coordinator, Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health

- Conduct outreach and recruitment, including through tabling, distribution of flyers, and other means; monitor registrations from Eventbrite, email, HSB's toll-free number, and the online enrollment form; send out Zoom links, handouts, and other resources.
- Complete set-up for in-person and virtual classes, including securing physical location and creating Zoom registrations; attend in-person classes to support as needed.
- Draft and distribute the monthly Healthy Start Brooklyn Activities Calendar of classes and events to referrers.
- Work with the Health Department's Family Wellness Suites (FWS) to develop additional support services, including nutrition, preconception-health, and prenatal-exercise classes; Meet the Doula events; and classes in other languages.
- Work to expand classes to other neighborhoods served by the Citywide Doula Initiative.
- Recruit instructors, trainers, etc., ideally from among residents of the neighborhoods being served.
- Draft contracts for instructors and other vendors, review and process invoices, and monitor instructor compliance with training and certification requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with instructors, including hosting quarterly instructors' meetings, to meet individual needs and integrate all classes into a seamless education program.
- Compile and analyze quantitative and qualitative data on classes and activities, including demographic data on participants; make recommendations for improving services and increasing attendance.
- Assist with the transition to the Apricot database, especially as it relates to the education program.

- Experience providing instruction in perinatal support, through childbirth education, parenting, or similar classes
- Understanding of and experience around community development and health issues in urban, underserved neighborhoods
- Comfortable working in a community setting with diverse populations
- Strong coordination and organizational skills
- Detail oriented; able to manage projects and work independently
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent customer-service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
