- Be the first point of contact for the public-answering phones, greeting visitors, and connecting people with the right city services.
- Manage building permit intake and processing, ensuring applications are complete, accurate, and efficiently routed.
- Support the Community & Economic Development team with land use applications, public meeting materials, notices, research projects, and website updates.
- Assist with animal licensing and cash receipting for a variety of city services and programs.
- Keep records, reports, and correspondence well-organized and accessible.
- Play a hands-on role in special projects, event support, and day-to-day departmental operations.
- Customer-service oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a busy, detail-driven office setting.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiar with computers and willing to learn new software systems (Microsoft Office, Adobe, permitting systems, etc.).
- Interested in local government, community development, or public service.
- High school diploma or GED, and some college coursework or two (2) years of office/customer service experience.
- Typing speed of 40+ words per minute.
- Experience with building permits, planning/zoning, or local government processes.
- Proficiency with permitting or project management software.
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning, or public records requirements.
