Senior Associate - Public PolicyThe Washington DC office of Squire Patton Boggs is seeking an experienced Senior Associate with excellent writing, organization, and project management skills to join our dynamic Public Policy practice. Knowledge of and experience with energy policy or financial services policy and Congressional or Executive Branch experience is strongly preferred. This position offers opportunities for career growth and development within a leading international law firm.Key Responsibilities:
  • Research, analyze, interpret, and summarize policy, regulatory, and legal issues
  • Contribute to complex legal matters across multiple practice areas and jurisdictions
  • Implement and optimize legal project management methodologies to enhance efficiency and client satisfaction
  • Support client relationships and expectations through effective communication and reporting
  • Mentor and guide junior associates, fostering a collaborative team culture
  • Drive innovation in legal service delivery through process improvements
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in a top-tier law firm or U.S. government
  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar is expected. If not currently admitted to the District of Columbia Bar, must be admitted to a U.S. State Bar and in good standing
  • Possess a JD from an accredited law school and a strong academic record
  • Demonstrated expertise in energy or financial services sectors and related policy and legal areas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple high-stakes client relationships
  • Proven ability to quickly and accurately analyze, interpret, and summarize complex policy, regulatory, and legal issues
Desired Skills:
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
  • Ability to work without constant supervision, demonstrating initiative in seeking work and managing workload
  • Experience mentoring junior associates
  • Proactive approach to business development and innovation
