Categories: College of Arts & SciencesJob SummaryThe Department of Communication invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in political communication and persuasion to start in September 2024. Expertise is required in the areas of (digital) political communication, persuasion and media effects, and media and communication ethics. Those with additional specialties in the fields of communication, media and platform policy, Artificial Intelligence and political communication, and communication theory are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching duties are at the undergraduate and graduate level, both face-to-face and online in these areas of expertise, next to more general courses the department offers.The Department of Communication has an Undergraduate program in Communication, a Professional Master program in Strategic and Digital Communication and a Master and Ph.D. program in Communication, Culture and Media. Students learn through hands-on experiences gained in and outside of the classroom. With faculty members who are equally passionate about teaching - face-to-face and online - and about cutting-edge research, the department is a leader in communication education, guiding the design of new curricular approaches to enhance student learning. The curriculum offers focus and flexibility, allowing students to define their path to success. The Department develops research in the areas of Public Relations, Journalism, Civil Society and the Political, Popular Communication and Consumer Culture, and Information and Communication Technology.   • Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Communication, Media Studies or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Experience in Undergraduate and Graduate teaching in both face-to-face and online modalities.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Must be legally able to work in the United States.
  • Able to start Fall 2024.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Data analytical skills for the study of persuasion.
  • In-depth understanding of media and communication professional ethics
  • Connections to professionals in the field of political communication.
  • Experience in teaching and working with a diverse student population.
