Title: Senior Civil Engineer (Land Development)Location: Santa Ana, CA (in office 4 days a week)Compensation: $100,000-140,000 + bonus, benefits, perks and moreUp-and-coming Civil Engineering Land Development firm is excited to hire a new Senior level Civil Engineer. This position will directly support the PM and Principals with large residential land development projects throughout CA. This role will also play a big part in training junior level designers and engineers as needed.The Senior Civil Engineer will lead and contribute to all phases of multi-disciplinary land development projects, from initial planning and design through final engineering and construction administration. Projects may include residential, multifamily, mixed-use, master-planned communities, commercial, industrial, and hospitality developments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both private and public sector work, with a focus on Southern California standards and practices.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop conceptual engineering designs and translate them into technical specifications and construction documents.
  • Serve as the central design lead for grading, street improvements, and underground utilities, ensuring compliance with agency requirements and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with clients, sub-consultants, and internal teams to coordinate project efforts.
  • Support project managers with budgeting, scheduling, and cost estimating.
  • Identify design criteria and execute effective engineering solutions.
  • Oversee coordination among internal staff and external contractors.
  • Prepare engineering specifications and submit reports to clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in managing contracts, change orders, subconsultant agreements, and RFP responses.
  • Mentor junior staff on land development processes and project-specific tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Produce technical reports and correspondence.
  • Perform technical tasks including site investigation, due diligence, utility research, conceptual drawings, site grading/earthwork analysis, utility system design, stormwater management, and feasibility studies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in civil engineering, preferably in land development.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Preferred experience with hydrology and drainage software such as CivilDesign, Hydrocalc, SWMM, and other routing tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
