San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is seeking a strategic, safety-focused professional to lead one of the most complex water production systems in the nation. This role offers the rare opportunity to impact a system that combines surface and groundwater across varying elevations, serving a large and growing metropolitan area. Truly, there are few roles that offer the chance to lead production of this magnitude.
- Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with a team of 160 tenured professionals and a capital budget of $60 million annually, the Vice President will drive operational excellence, ensure system reliability, and spearhead a cultural transformation that emphasizes conservation, safety, unity, and innovation.
- Lead operations for Water Production, overseeing more than 200 wells and an extensive distribution system with 13 water sources. Role includes the oversight of Recycled Water Distribution System; and Maintenance of water production & recycled water facilities, which includes mechanical, electrical and instrumentation and control
- Oversee major upcoming capital projects, including full replacement of production well meters and electrical upgrades and distribution improvements, collaborating closely with the Engineering Team.
- Ensure safety, reliability, and compliance in all plant operations, with a strong emphasis on mitigating risks in hazardous environments involving electrical currents and high-pressure systems.
- Proven Leader experienced in leading production efforts for municipal water systems or with the consulting firms that support them.
- Demonstrated success leading operational teams through change, particularly with safety and cultural alignment. Ability to showcase examples of how they have demonstrated innovation and forward thinking with their current and past teams.
- TCEQ Class A Water Operator License or Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas highly preferred
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or similar field required
- Reside in San Antonio, Texas or willing to relocate
