Though not inclusive of all tasks, the following are general expectations of the role:
- Financial Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial statements as required by the Sr. VP of Finance or senior leadership.
- Budgeting and Forecasting Support: Assist in the budgeting process by providing financial data and analysis. Help in creating financial forecasts and projections based on historical data and current trends.
- Expense Management: Monitor and track expenses, ensuring that they are within budgeted limits. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend ways to improve financial efficiency trends.
- Audit and Compliance: Assist in preparing for audits by organizing financial documents and providing necessary support during audit processes. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and potential areas of improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to the Sr. VP of Finance based on financial data analysis.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Franchises, other departments, and teams to gather financial information and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Communicate effectively with the Sr. VP of Finance, Franchises, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Advanced Bookkeeping Skills: Proficiency in advanced bookkeeping tasks such as reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and budgeting.
- Associate’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Accounting, Finance). ~ preferred
- Certified Bookkeeper from organizations like The American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB)~ preferred
- Franchise and/or startup experience~ preferred
- Financial Analysis: Ability to conduct financial analysis, interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or SAP, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and franchises, conveying financial information clearly and accurately.
- Analytical Thinking: Critical thinking and analytical skills to identify discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and propose solutions for financial challenges.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping and reporting to ensure data integrity.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload effectively.
- Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure financial activities adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
- Experience: Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably in a senior or supervisory capacity, demonstrating progressively responsible experience and leadership skills.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, provide support and guidance to junior staff, and contribute to a positive work environment.
