
OpenVMS Programmer

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain applications using C++, C, DECforms, ACMS, and Oracle Rdb on the OpenVMS platform.
- Provide daily user support and generate analysis reports based on existing data.
- Design, redesign, optimize, and implement database enhancements.
- Monitor and tune database performance, including analyzing and modifying database storage areas, indexes, and transaction paths.
- Resolve internal and external database fragmentation issues
- Design screens using DEC-FORMS to meet business needs and enhance user experience.
- Review physical database area usage, free space, fill factors, and perform checks on storage segment and page statistical distributions.
- Develop new documentation and review/update existing documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Migrate all applications to newer hardware platforms and enable web access to enhance accessibility and performance.
- Perform other related tasks as needed to support the department's objectives.
- Platforms: OpenVMS 8.3-1H1 (Client Integrity), OpenVMS 8.3 (Alpha), OpenVMS 8.4 (Alpha)
- Proven experience in managing applications using C language and Oracle DB on OpenVMS.
- Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in DECforms, ACMS, and Oracle Rdb.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Candidate must be located in NYC area. Expected hybrid work schedule with onsite requirements with the client.
