For more data and information about our successes and vision for the future, visitJob DescriptionIn school year 2022-2023, KIPP Detroit Imani Academy Elementary launched with Kindergarten and has added grades each year; it will, eventually serve students in grades K-5. The founding team at KIPP Imani has included grade-level teachers, diverse learning teachers, paraprofessionals, and elective teachers. KIPP Imani is also supported by an operations team and student support team to ensure a strong foundation for the school's continued growth.The Operations Manager [OM] is the face of the school and delivers first-class customer service to all constituents in the building, including students, parents, staff, and guests. The OM's primary responsibilities are to operate a welcoming and efficient main office, to coordinate student enrollment and attendance, and to provide daily support to teachers and the school's leadership team. Ideal candidates will have an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to develop and grow their impact; successful Operations Managers will have opportunities for promotion to roles on our growing Operations team with increased responsibility, scope, and salary. This is a full-time position that will report to the Director of Operations.RESPONSIBILITIESStudent Recruitment, Enrollment, and AttendanceCoordinate new student enrollment: assist in canvassing, process incoming leads and applications, send acceptance/waitlist letters, and assist parents with online enrollmentOversee student attendance: Lead process late arrivals, communicate with teachers and school leadership re: student absences, call families of absent students, ensure attendance is accurately logged in student information systems each day, and process early dismissalsMaintain complete student recordsOffice, Facilities, and SuppliesCreate and maintain a neat, welcoming, and organized office environmentWelcome parents and visitors, maintain visitor logs, ensure all visitors are accounted for in the building, and respond to visitor & parent requestsAnswer phones, redirect inquiries as appropriate, and relay messages to staff in a timely mannerProvide excellent organization of students, vendors, and correspondence files.Ensure that copiers/printers are in working order and maintain teacher workroom/supply closetEnsure that teachers/staff have necessary supplies (which includes processing and fulfilling approved staff supply requests)Order, manage inventory, and process controls for supplies such as classroom materials, technology, and uniformsReceive, distribute, and prepare incoming/outgoing mail and shipmentsSchool Events, Daily Processes, and CommunicationAssist with coordination of school eventsAssist with daily arrival & dismissal processAssist with daily breakfast & lunch distribution and accountingAssist with emergency preparedness tasks and drillsAssist with production and distribution of memos & newslettersCoordinate student health services: monitor student health and safety for any unusual/troubling trends, coordinate with site nurse to ensure that students receive appropriate careEXPECTATIONSShare a commitment to the success of the mission, vision and goals of the KIPP Detroit Imani AcademyDemonstrate genuine concern for the students and the staff by maintaining high personal standards and strong work ethicBeing consistent and reliable; attendance is an essential function to assure the proper operation of KIPP Detroit Imani AcademyAn understanding that organizational success is accomplished in collaboration and cooperation with teammatesMaintain standards of professionalism and ethical behavior/decision-making that help create a results-driven culture of joy and belonging amongst teammatesAttend workshops, professional development, seminars for continuous growth and improvement in serving KIPP Detroit Imani AcademyQualificationsThe minimum qualification for a Operations Manager are:Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university or college (required)At least two years of administrative experience, preferably in a fast-paced, mission-driven environmentExperience working in a school setting, urban setting preferredExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and detail orientationStrong typing and technology skills, specifically with Microsoft Office and Google DriveEvidence of strong interpersonal skillsEvidence of personal initiative and follow throughRespect for diversity, cultural competence and self-awareness in relation to self and othersA cleared Criminal Records CheckAll KIPP Michigan staff are required to provide documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination by or their start date (unless approved for medical or religious exemption).Additional InformationKIPP Michigan is the Educational Service Provider to KIPP Detroit Imani Academy.
