Job Description:Jered, a PAR Systems Company, seeks an experienced Senior Manager, PMO to drive the successful delivery of complex programs, including new design contracts, internal R&D initiatives, and other strategic projects. This role entails leading program management teams, establishing best practices, and fostering collaboration across functions to ensure alignment with organizational goals. As the primary liaison for Contracting Officers and key stakeholders, the Senior Manager plays a critical role in program execution and strategic alignment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, mentorship, and a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.With over 60 years of experience in designing, building, and supporting products for every combatant ship in the US Navy, Jered is a renowned defense contractor specializing in a wide range of critical equipment, including anchor windlasses, capstans, mooring and towing winches, steering gear systems, cargo handling systems, pontoon roadways and bridging, and aircraft, cargo, and weapons elevators.Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Leadership: Manage and oversee multiple complex programs, serving as the primary point of contact between internal teams, clients, and subcontractors. Ensure alignment of program activities with overall strategic objectives.
  • Team Management & Mentorship: Lead a team of Program Managers, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to build a high-performing team. Develop talent within the program management function and foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Process Improvement: Establish, implement, and optimize program management processes, tools, and methodologies to drive consistency, efficiency, and quality in program execution. Develop and document best practices to support organizational excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Business Development teams to ensure successful program execution and seamless cross-functional integration.
  • Program Planning & Execution: Lead development programs, defining program plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations. Maintain responsibility for scope management, cost management, schedule estimation and tracking, and risk management.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage program risks and opportunities. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize program disruptions.
  • Financial Oversight: Review and approve financial reports, including earned value management (EVM) metrics, Estimate at Completion (EAC), and other financial status reports to ensure programs remain within scope and budget.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present program status reviews and formal reports for senior leadership and external customers. Maintain transparent and proactive communication with all stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Contract Management: Ensure compliance with all contract requirements, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) guidelines.
  • Business Development Support: Partner with Business Development teams to assess new business opportunities, contribute to proposal development, and ensure alignment with program capabilities and strategic objectives.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience as a program manager in managing programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Experience leading multi-vendor and multi-task contracts is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in requirements analysis, resource allocation, project costing, deliverable tracking, and schedule and financial data monitoring within defense or shipbuilding industries.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FAR and DFARS regulations.
Preferred Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, make independent decisions, and drive programs forward with minimal oversight.
  • Previous experience in the shipbuilding industry or a similar highly regulated environment.
  • PMP, FAC-P/PM Senior Level, or Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level 3 certification in Program Management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with program and financial planning and execution, Estimate at Completes (EACs), EVMS, R&O Management, Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and key business metrics to include bookings, sales, earnings and cash.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a focus on coaching and developing other program managers.
  • Ability to lead complex cross-functional projects and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing best practices and program management frameworks.
