The Fabrication Shop Technician is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components, particularly for electrical enclosures and skids. The Fabrication Shop Technician works closely with engineering and integration teams to produce high-quality products that meet clients' needs and specifications.Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.
- Maintain workstation and equipment.
- Work closely with other team members to complete projects by assigned deadlines.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear, including safety goggles.
- Interpret work from engineering drawings and specifications to fabricate metal components.
- Operate various metalworking machines, press brakes, and welding equipment.
- Assemble fabricated parts into final products, ensuring structural integrity and quality.
- Perform quality checks to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to troubleshoot and resolve fabrication issues.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in metal fabrication or in a related field
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Skilled in operating metalworking machinery and tools
- Experience using measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, protractor
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
- Ability to stoop, reach, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- May be required to climb stairs, kneel, or crouch to access equipment or retrieve materials
