Overview
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer and engaging facilitator to design and deliver training focused on building organizational competencies in Intentional Communication and Emotional Intelligence (EQ). This initiative is aimed at fostering a culture of feedback and enhancing interpersonal effectiveness across the organization.
The consultant will:
  • Develop and facilitate three 1.5–2-hour sessions on Intentional Communication (self, team, and outward communication).
  • Create and deliver a highly interactive half-day (or two shorter) sessions on Emotional Intelligence for staff (20–40 participants). While some EQ content exists, the consultant will need to customize and expand materials to ensure relevance and impact.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop instructor-led training (ILT) materials tailored to organizational competencies.
  • Facilitate interactive, engaging in-person workshops for employees, including software engineering teams.
  • Customize existing content (EQ) and create new content (communication skills) based on best practices, research, and subject matter input.
  • Align training content with key assessment criteria:
  • Self-Awareness – recognizing and understanding emotions and tendencies.
  • Self-Management – managing reactions and maintaining flexibility.
  • Social Awareness – accurately perceiving emotions in others.
  • Relationship Management – effectively navigating interpersonal interactions.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven success as both an Instructional Designer and Facilitator of ILT workshops.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building training around competencies, particularly communication and EQ.
  • Experience developing and delivering interactive training for professional and technical audiences.
  • Strong consulting skills: adaptable, collaborative, and able to design with limited existing materials.

Location: 2 Days Onsite delivery during Feb 2025 in Ann Arbor, Michigan (travel required; expenses reimbursed)
