- Must be able to work in a busy clinic environment and prioritize duties with multiple interruptions throughout the day.
- Must be able to use medical and non-medical unit equipment required to perform essential functions of this position.
- The RN Coordinator collaborates with the Nurse Navigators, Team Coordinators, Care Coordinators and Managed Care Coordinators to ensure that all appropriate business-related information is gathered prior to the visit, authorizations have been obtained and pre-registration has taken place.
- The RN Coordinator collaborates with multiple interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely and accurate care is provided to patients and their families. (Cellular Therapy program, Intervention Radiology, Apheresis, Research etc.)
- The RN Coordinator may be called upon to assign tasks to team members after assessing patient needs, staff skills and resources.
- The RN Coordinator collaborates with other members of the team to ensure that patient flow is expedited during clinical practice sessions.
- The RN Coordinator ensures that Provider orders that result from the new patient visit are recorded and executed. S/he also works to ensure that laboratory and other diagnostic findings are available to clinicians in a timely fashion after tests are performed. S/he tracks the post visit flow information to ensure that plans of care are executed in a timely fashion.
- The RN Coordinator ensures that when hospitalization is required; those patients and their family members understand prior to admission, what they can expect during the pre-hospitalization, hospital stay and post discharge period. The RN Coordinator is expected to troubleshoot any problems that patients and their families may encounter in preparing for or during their hospital stay.
- Unencumbered Washington RN license or WA Multi-state Compact license with a Washington residence within 3 months of date of hire.
- Must have one of the following:
- Two years of peri-operative experience within the last five years or
- Two years of medical-surgical experience within the last five years or
- Surgical Oncology care coordination experience within the last five years
- The RN must have one of the following:
- Current OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification or
- Complete 36 cancer related continuing education nursing contact hours each accreditation cycle, per
- BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- BLS must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application)
- External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
- Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
