A career with us is an excellent opportunity to work with some of the best civil engineers and construction managers.The OpportunityWe are looking for an energetic and ambitious Accounting Manager to help build and manage at a corporate level the F&A organization and financial reporting of the Company. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience. They will demonstrate strong organizational, leadership and communication skills, can work independently while thriving in a team environment, and are personable and professional in their demeanor.The Accounting Manager is a key member of the management team and will have primary day-to-day responsibility for directing and implementing all financial-related activities of the Company in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This is an onsite position based in our San Diego office.Responsibilities:
  • Performs all aspects of the accounting, forecasting, budgeting, consolidation and reporting for the Company and functions as a member of the accounting team responsible for planning and budgeting
  • Assists with the production of monthly financial reporting packages, weekly operational dashboards, and in-depth financial analysis, and generally strengthens accounting and reporting systems to provide timely, accurate information to Executive Management
  • Prepares monthly invoices in accordance with client contracts
  • Administers new client onboarding, and responsible for ongoing maintenance of client records
  • Monitors Budget vs. Actual billings and communicates variances with project managers
  • Performs journal entries supporting the month-end close process, including a wide variety of A/P, A/R, and ERP administration tasks
  • Assists with creation and maintenance of the department's policies and procedures documentation related to financial reporting and the external audit process
  • Manages the organization and maintenance of important company documentation (e.g. contracts, corporate certifications, etc.)
  • Assists with the cash management functions and policies of the Company
  • Takes responsibility for the creation and implementation of financial and operational analysis and dashboarding important to the operating management of the business
  • Analyzes business processes to identify areas of improvement and recommend automation (or other) solutions
  • Works closely with business teams to understand their needs and create solutions that automate and streamline their processes
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or equivalent, with strong accounting background and technical understanding of GAAP
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience with accounting, reporting, budgeting, contracting, billing, and cost control experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification strongly desired
  • High level of accounting software skills; Deltek ERP experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition standards and percentage completion accounting
  • Experience developing and managing short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, cash flow forecasts, and project (or product-line) profitability analysis
  • Results-oriented with strong management, problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage and manage colleagues to strict deadlines and deliver high degrees of technical accuracy
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and exercise good judgment

We offer a generous salary and benefits package that includes company paid medical and dental insurance, vacation and a 401(k) plan.
