- Research and assist in the development of AP/Cost related processes across CE&I
- Maintain and enhance company policies and account policies and procedures by working with other departments
- Work on reports to ensure accurate information for our field
- Intercompany transactions between all Mastec Service lines and ensure accuracy
- Review Cost weekly against forecast to ensure accuracy
- Identify and analyze unusual cost records and work with necessary stakeholders for and appropriate resolution and reconciliation
- Work with jobsites to ensure all cost has been booked/accrued for month/quarter/year ends
- Lead on Audit Requests both internal and external
- Bank Reconciliations
- Identify areas of improvement and make recommendations for process efficiencies
- Key contributor to related meetings with Procurement/Project Controls teams
- Key Stakeholder in future CE&I acquisitions for AP Process integration
- Review job set ups, job change orders, contract set ups and contract change orders for accuracy and completeness
- Monitor and improve internal control and fraud prevention practices in Accounts Payable
- Analyze job costs and work with the operational team to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Analyze and reconcile various General Ledger accounts, prepare month end work papers and prepare correcting entries as needed
- Understand SOX guidelines to ensure accurate controls and segregation of duties are in place to meet compliance
- Evaluate and recommend solutions for a more efficient and streamlined process in all accounting areas
- Assist PM’s with questions related to financial and operational information
- Obtain and organize information for internal and external audits
- Assist various entities in all accounting related functions
- Plan and execute special financial or operational projects as they arise
- Various other accounting duties as assigned by management
- Assist HR, PMs, and Administrative Staff with various information and inquiries
- Support the Accounting Supervisor with training and mentoring Staff Accountants, AP Specialists, and Accounting Assistant in completing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting tasks as well as special financial or operational projects
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-7 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
- Strong computer skills, specifically Viewpoint and Excel
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organization skills along with an attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact with multiple personalities at all levels within the organization
- Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
- Assist supervisors with preparation of reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
- Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- When visiting jobsites the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
