
MAINTENANCE WORKER (Sports Field-PARKS)

- Operating and maintaining various equipment such as rotary and/or reel mowers, tractors, skid steers, weed-eaters, trimmers, chain and pole saws, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning shears, truck, trailer, blower, and other equipment involved in the maintenance of assigned areas.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of parks and sports field areas performing duties such as pesticide and fertilizer applications, aerification of turfgrass, mowing, string trimming, picking up trash, building maintenance, fence installation/removal, edging, planting, weeding flower beds, applying water to lawn area and flower beds, pruning trees, infield clay maintenance, etc.
- May assist in the installation of sprinkler systems and perform irrigation repairs.
- Position includes light construction, application of various pesticides, and other related/assigned duties as required.
- Operating a variety of specialized equipment and performs general manual labor tasks in order to maintain parks, streets, infrastructure and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responds to emergencies as needed.
- Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
- Assisting in the repair and maintenance of parks and roadways; maintains landscaping and grounds; clears trash, brush, weeds and debris from roadways, structures, grounds and facilities.
- Cleaning and maintaining City facilities; makes minor facility repairs; assists with the construction of new facilities and installation of equipment.
- Cleaning and storing hazardous materials according to City policy and procedures.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm to include some over-time, weekends and holidays, (30 minute lunch).
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Required to have some working knowledge and skills related to proper turfgrass, infield and tree management.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
- Work is performed outdoors.
- Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time; work in extreme weather conditions.
- Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 117 pounds.
