
Technical Solutions Manager

- Develops long-term departmental technology strategy in collaboration with the Police team leads and communicate priorities for technology work planning and staff training plans.
- Manages department-specific technology implementations in coordination with IT. Coordinate departmental process changes and business integration.
- Manages and oversees large, long range, or complex projects including Keep Virginia Beach Safe.
- Directly oversees the managers of the Analytics and Real-Time Intelligence Center and Technology Unit.
- Establishes and monitors program priorities, objectives, procedures, and resource needs allocation.
- Provides oversight of departmental technical resources and application support responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Maintains awareness of emerging technologies and project management techniques by attending in-service training, technical or professional classes, seminars, or conferences to enhance skills, while also serving on departmental and city-wide committees and teams as assigned.
- Manages technology-related procurement processes as necessary, including development of RFP’s, vendor selection, and contract negotiation.
- Manages vendor service contracts, relationships, and support issues as necessary.
- Department liaison for community/civic organizations and business groups to provide information on the integration of technology and its impact on policing and community safety.
- Communicates with departmental leadership to ensure shared understanding of work plans, status, IT standards, change management, and other applicable processes.
- Defines management tools, dashboards and reporting requirements to assess productivity and efficiency, as well as assist management in making data-driven decisions. Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and productivity through the use of technology.
- Performs other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.
