  • Lead the installation, commissioning, and validation of complex custom automation systems at client sites.
  • Perform advanced programming, troubleshooting, and debugging of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and industrial robotics (e.g., Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, Kuka, ABB).
  • Diagnose and resolve highly intricate electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system failures, often under pressure.
  • Provide expert-level technical support and training to client personnel on advanced system operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to provide feedback for continuous system improvement.
  • Generate comprehensive service reports, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures.
  • Manage on-site project timelines, resources, and client expectations effectively.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior technicians, sharing expertise and best practices.
Recommended Qualifications:
  • 5-7+ years of progressive hands-on experience as a Field Service Technician, Controls Engineer, or Automation Specialist, preferably in a custom automation or machine building environment.
  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial robotics integration.
  • Expert ability to read and interpret complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.
  • Deep understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
  • Exceptional problem-solving and diagnostic skills for integrated systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
  • Valid drivers license and proven ability to travel extensively (potentially overnight and nationally) with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with vision systems, motion control, and servo drive technologies.
  • Project leadership or supervisory experience in a field service setting.
  • Certifications in relevant automation platforms (e.g., Rockwell Automation Certified).
