- Bid Preparation & Estimating:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive cost estimates for materials, equipment , and labor.
- Identify scope, risks, and opportunities for each project and ensure all relevant details are factored into the bid.
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates in accordance with company standards and project requirements.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with operations, Business Development, and Project Managers during the bidding process to ensure data accuracy and competitiveness.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain the best pricing and ensure a complete and accurate bid package.
- Communicate with clients, engineers, and project stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies in project specifications.
- Project Handoff & Execution:
- Once a bid is accepted, promptly work up and obtain execution of subcontracts and material purchase orders, ensuring insurance compliance.
- Lead a comprehensive hand-off process to project management, ensuring all strategies, opportunities, and risks identified during the bidding process are effectively communicated.
- Assist project manager with cost control, forecasting, and tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
- Market & Industry Awareness:
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing structures to maintain competitive and profitable bid strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and availability of resources.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial construction estimating, preferably in wastewater or related infrastructure projects.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Other Skills:
- Strongly proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, etc.).
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, takeoff software, and cost databases.
- Understanding of labor productivity factors and construction methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
