The ideal candidate will be able to interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, as well as have great communication skills to facilitate communication between deaf and hearing individuals.As an Interpreter for the Deaf, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that deaf individuals have equal access to education opportunities. You'll work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure that students who are deaf are able to participate fully in classroom activities. You may provide interpretation services for a variety of events, including meetings, presentations, trainings, and more.ResponsibilitiesInterpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa accurately and fluentlyProviding interpretation services at events, meetings, and training sessions as neededPreparing for interpretation assignments by studying relevant materials, including presentations and speeches, ahead of timeEnsuring that students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing are able to participate fully in classroom activitiesCollaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop strategies for providing equal access to education for all studentsWorking with the deaf community to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in ASLMaintaining accurate records of interpretation requests and services provided
