- Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.
- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
- Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements. Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items.
- Lay out floorings, roofing or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible.
- Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated. Build scaffolding and other construction structures.
- Responsible for cleaning the following on Resort and Club property: pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, and public space PM’s. Check pool equipment, and perform minor repairs.
- Maintain proper water chemistry according to City of Austin standards.
- Responsible for minor/ major repairs to Member’s Club House.
- Be able to work side by side and accept training and feedback from Class 1 engineers.
- Maintain and repair all items in guestrooms and public areas.
- Receive direction from engineering management on daily assignments or projects and complete within the time and manner specified or in accordance with hotel needs.
- Receive direction for house calls via radio and respond promptly and appropriately.
- Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs and learn while helping with those repairs.
- Understand and be able to receive and update work requests from the work request system (Synergy).
- Complete appropriate documents and logs for work assigned on a daily basis.
- Have a thorough understanding of Omni fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
- Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotel rules and regulations.
- Have a thorough understanding of the importance of Lock out Tag out, the dangers of arc flashes and other precautions that need to be taken around equipment.
- Maintain engineering shops in a clean and organized manner.
- Maintain engineering parts and supplies inventory.
- Understand how to detect trends that indicate developing issues.
- Embrace all learning and training opportunities.
- Provide support to Class III engineering personnel when needed.
- Clean all work areas after completing a job.
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
- Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- 4 years experience in hospitality and CPO certification is preferred.
- Prior experience with installing carpet and pad, decking, flooring and drywall plumbing, as well as electrical and HVAC equipment is required.
- Excellent understanding of hotel facilities and methods of maintenance and construction.
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment, general engineering and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.).
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
- Basic troubleshooting skills on minor equipment, public areas and guest room issues.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Must be able to fully understand, read and write in the English language.
- Ability to properly prioritize workload in a dynamic environment.
- Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects of moderate to heavy weight without assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
- Responds quickly to sounds. Moves safely over uneven terrain. Identify and respond to dangerous situations. Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight. Wear personal protective equipment when required.
