- Enforce safe skiing practices according to the State of Alaska and Alyeska Resort policies.
- Possess full knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures as outlined in the Patrol Manual and Operations Plan.
- Patrols assigned areas checking ski slopes and trails daily to determine hazards and danger areas.
- Assist in the search and rescue of lost skiers, chair lift evacuation and avalanche search and rescue.
- Renders first aid to injured skiers and provides safe transport off the mountain.
- Notifies medical personnel in case of severe injury where moving skier might prove dangerous.
- Ensures that no skiers remain on slopes or trails at end of day or during inclement weather.
- Maintains tower, post and snowmaking hydrants, and all patrol stations and storage areas.
- Inspects ski lifts, rope tows, and chair lifts to report safety hazards and evidence of damage or wear.
- Assist with mountain sweeping at close of season.
- Assists in explosives handling to blast for avalanche control [under supervision of experienced blaster].
- Participate in speed control and safety enforcement.
- Able to locate transceiver quickly.
- Performance of special patrol jobs.
- Ability to handle Dispatch and Aid Room duties.
- Route Leader for avalanche mitigation.
- Operates Artillery pieces.
- Resolves guest complaints according to policy.
- Teaches other patrollers about all aspects of patrolling.
- Assist with sweep and end of day and performs closing duties as assigned.
- Exhibits demonstrable leadership skills.
- Lead all departments in a coordinated Lift Evacuation.
- Perform as Rescue Leader in an avalanche situation.
- Accident Investigation Leader.

- Possess one of the following: OEC, or EMT I or higher, and CPR card.
- Must be a strong, advanced level skier, able to ski all terrain in all conditions.
- Can commit for a full season from Mid-November to the end of April.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Member of NSP.
- Must be familiar with Ski area and outer areas
- Proficient in sled handling and lift evacuation techniques.
- Able to demonstrate advanced skills and decision-making in most terrain and all snow conditions.
- Knowledge and practice of safe, effective ski cutting of avalanches.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in all weather and snow conditions.
- Alyeska Resort will provide continuing education and training to qualify for OEC and CPR certification.
- Same as Patroller I and 2 qualifications above plus 5 years patrol experience.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and work well with other members of the patrol and with other departments.
- Able to set up and run avalanche rescue practice.
- Capable of directing lift evacuations and high angle rescues.
- Able to be Rescue Leader or any other position in avalanche rescue.
- Able to make avalanche hazard forecast and organize avalanche mitigation.
- Able to organize and conduct avalanche rescue, missing persons or night searches.
- Able to take charge of patrol operations when Patrol Director or Supervisor is absent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Minimum of 3 seasons avalanche mitigation.
- Skilled at locating multiple transceiver burials.
- Able to lead any part of a lift evacuation for any chair lift.
- Ability to transport injured guests on both on and off-piste terrain in toboggan both skiing in handles and using tail-rope.
- Must be able to work outside in changing winter conditions for extended periods.

- Demonstrate strong skiing and toboggan handling skills.
