Sayres Defense, a leading provider of defense support services to the DOD, is currently seeking an experiencedSENIOR PRINCIPAL MARINE SYSTEMS ENGINEER SSDM with SECRET clearance, verifiable in DISS in Washington, DC.In this role, you will provide executive level support to the PMS 300/325 Ship Design Management (SDM) teams, ensuring alignment of design engineering team capabilities with engineering tasks across the program portfolios (e.g T-AGOS, T-AO, T-ATS, NGLS, T-ARC, Service Craft).Duties & Responsibilities· Supervise, mentor and oversee performance of design engineers conducting critical ship design reviews and analyses of industry (shipyard) contract deliverables such as specifications, drawings and calculations. Ensure development of corrective design comments and revisions to conform to Government specifications and requirements are being met.· Conduct periodic workload versus resource reviews with Program PAPMs and SDMs, validating level of effort, seniority and capability of contract staff are sufficiently meeting technical requirements.· Lead engineering organizations in advancement of professional development and maximum efficiency of staff across platforms in addressing technical tasks and issues.· Supervise and train junior SDM engineers.· Develop technical resolutions to engineering problems that arise in the production of Navy Ships. Provide Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) technical assessments and evaluations in accordance with the specification and advise the client on equipment and system design issues.Qualifications & Clearance RequirementsEducation, Work Experience, Skills and Clearance Requirements:· Bachelor's degree in engineering and at fifteen (15) years of Navy shipbuilding/design experience OR 20 years of ship design experience in lieu of degree.· Excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills.· Superior organizational skills.· Ability to work in a team environment.· Active Secret security clearance verifiable in JPAS or the ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance· Strong Marine Engineering experience.Preferred:· Prior military, maritime, or Marine Engineer background.· Experience with automated engineering software (i.e. AutoCAD, AdobePro).· Knowledge of Contract Documentation, experience reading contract data, and familiarity with NAVSEA ship specification requirements and processes.The position description is only meant to be a representative summary of the major responsibilities and accountabilities performed by the incumbents of this position.
