The company’s main activity is to propose state-of-the-art machine learning tools for satellite multispectral and hyperspectral data and satellite radar interferometry, with applications to the monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions, water resources, and ground stability.Geolabe is supported by NASA and NSF in its effort to automatize the analysis of complex satellite imagery. The team has strong academic roots and ties, and scientific freedom as well as the pursuit of scientific interests are encouraged.About the RoleThe team at Geolabe is developing algorithms tailored for the analysis and interpretation of satellite data. We rely on a variety of physical modelling, statistics, and machine learning approaches to derive actionable insights from noisy satellite data.We are looking for applied scientists with backgrounds in geophysics, physics or data science to further improve and apply these approaches to the monitoring of key climate change drivers at scale.Responsibilities
  • Develop methods for the analysis and interpretation of complex satellite data, with the goal of tackling climate change issues.
  • Develop and optimize data access and processing pipelines, as well as method validation pipelines.
  • Communicate with a network of peers, clients, academics.
  • Contribute to scientific publications and scientific proposals.
What You Bring
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and a pro-active mindset to propose innovative solutions to scientific problems.
  • PhD in a relevant scientific field such as geophysics, astrophysics, environmental sciences, physics, data science, or another quantitative discipline.
  • A track record of scientific publications.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Hands-on approach, and willingness to take leadership in the development of innovative solutions.
  • Strong work ethics, and ability to regularly and efficiently communicate and assess progress with teammates.
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience with spectral or radar satellite imagery, or other geospatial data.
  • Experience with machine learning, computer vision, image analysis, statistics, or signal processing.
  • Experience with distributed computing.
  • Contribution to open-source projects.
  • Experience with standard machine learning libraries (Pytorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
