(Candidates within 25 miles of Burke, VA only as project site visits are required)The Company, a thriving privately held organization servicing the construction industry, is currently seeking an adept, motivated financial leader for the position of Assistant Controller. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the financial management and reporting functions of the company. Collaborating closely with fellow finance professionals, you will ensure the accuracy of financial records, adherence to accounting standards, and the implementation of robust internal controls. Your extensive expertise in accounting, finance, and the construction sector will be instrumental in safeguarding the financial well-being of the organization and guiding strategic decisions.Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the project Accounting team to ensure seamless operations.
  • Develop and enact financial policies, protocols, and internal controls tailored to meet industry-specific requirements.
  • Evaluate and strategize long-term operational objectives, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Compile monthly financial statement reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of comprehensive financial statements and reports.
  • Provide support for monthly and year-end reporting processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Manage state registrations, business, and tax licenses as necessary.
  • Oversee pay requests and payment procedures.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred (CPA certification preferred).
  • Possess 3-5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on the construction industry or related sectors.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, including GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems, with experience in WIP software preferred.
  • Strong analytical acumen and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment while meeting strict deadlines.
