Requirements:- Associates Degree or higher education- Registered Radiologic Technologist (R-RT)- Reg Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (R-RMDS)- BLS/CPR through the American Heart AssociationPerforms Ultrasound Imaging
- Reviews order requisitions for diagnosis and examination requested.
- Arranges daily work schedule to accommodate inpatient requests.
- Selects appropriate transducer and sets up ultrasound equipment according to examination requested.
- Explains examination to the patient and reviews patient chart as needed.
- Positions patient for the examination and performs the ultrasound examination according to established imaging procedures.
- Establishes and maintains good communications with patients and provides for patient comfort before, during and after the examination.
- Reviews images for correct patient positioning, ultrasound technique, patient identification and appropriate anatomical markers.
- Reviews images and patient history with the Radiologist.
- Records a pertinent patient history or other unusual patient conditions.
- Completes the biophysical, gynecology, abdominal, obstetrical, or miscellaneous worksheet as appropriate.
- Documents billing and required information in the HIS system.
- Provides ultrasound guidance during invasive procedures.
- Follows universal precautions policy and procedures.
- Sets-up sterile supplies for invasive procedures.
- Assists physicians with invasive procedures.
- Remains current by reading journals, attending in-services, staff meetings, outside meetings, and seminars as needed.
- Recognizes signs of equipment malfunctions and arranges for equipment repair.
- Notifies Radiology Manager of equipment maintenance.
- Cleans ultrasound equipment and accessories.
- Request supplies from hospital Stock Room or from Radiology Manager.
- Performs equipment quality control and maintains records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
