Our coatings are designed to meet both the functional requirements and aesthetic preferences of our customers and end-users.As the leader of the Customer Development Technical team, you will be able to take pride in contributing to our purpose-driven mission, We Protect and Beautify the World™. This team serves as the primary technical interface between our Science and Technology (S&T) function and our customers. In the leadership role for the Oak Creek Team, you will be responsible for delivering innovative coating solutions through advanced formulation and rigorous testing, addressing the needs of both customers and internal stakeholders. Your leadership will be critical in driving technical excellence, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the successful application of our coatings technology to actively support the growth of the industrial coatings business.Responsibilities:
  • Lead and inspire a medium-sized team of over 25 chemists and technicians, fostering a culture of innovative problem-solving and increased productivity to consistently deliver exceptional service to customers and stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing development and coaching to cultivate talent, promote diversity, and maintain high performance standards.
  • Enhance customer relationships by thoroughly understanding their objectives and delivering effective solutions to their challenges.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to ensure timely delivery of the appropriate products, proactively addressing and overcoming any obstacles.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with manufacturing, commercial, supply chain, and product stewardship teams.
  • Serve as a confident and respected representative of the Oak Creek technical team and the broader S&T organization to our customers and the coating industry.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of product portfolios and the underlying chemistry and engineering principles.
  • Design and implement robust programs and processes aimed at reducing portfolio complexity, modifying platform products to address portfolio gaps, and facilitating the commercialization of new technologies in partnership with product development teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemistry, Engineering, or Materials Science required.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in research, product development, and/or manufacturing.
  • Coatings or formulation experience highly preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience leading a team.
  • Previous experience collaborating with internal stakeholders and external customers preferred.
  • Project management / product commercialization experience preferred.
  • The role requires travel up to 25% as needed (domestic and international).
