- Required Education: Associate of Science in EMS. Must complete and maintain continuing education or re-certification requirements as prescribed by NC OEMS, NREMTP, and SC DHEC. Certificate Paramedics must sign an agreement to obtain an EMS degree within 6 years of date of hire. Paramedics who are nearing the end of their professional career may be exempted from the degree requirement with Department Director approval.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Services, or related field.
- Required License/Certification: Must have and maintain current Paramedic certification from N.C. Office of Emergency Medical Services. Must have and maintain current Paramedic certification from S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control. National Registry EMT-P. BCLS, ACLS, ITLS or PHTLS, PALS or PEPP. CCEMT-P and FP-C required within one year of hire. PNCCT required within 18 months of hire. Must have a valid NC driver’s license or procure one within 30 days of employment unless an out of-state commuter, at least two years of satisfactory driving experience and be able to meet the Mission Health established insurance guidelines.
- Required Experience: Five years full time EMS experience at the Paramedic level.
- Preferred Experience: Critical Care Transport/Specialty Care Transport experience, prior management experience, teaching experience, public speaking experience.
