
Repossession Specialist I

- Qualifies and assigns accounts that the Collection team has approved for repossession.
- Assigns accounts to Repossession Company; involuntary, voluntary, abandoned, and impounds.
- Documents system and notifies all corresponding departments once vehicles have been secured.
- Reviews, updates, and conducts follow-ups with agents on accounts assigned for repossession.
- Conduct light skip tracing before assigning an account out for repossession.
- Review accounts for payments or collection arrangements, placing an account on hold or closing request.
- Closes dead-end assignments and forwards the account to the skip department.
- Assists in the selection of repossession agents, negotiates fees and verifies the proper insurance and bond coverage.
- Ensures compliance with state laws regarding the right to cure (RTC), Strict Compliance Letter (SCL), Soldiers and Sailors Credit Protection (SSCRA), and any Bankruptcy protection requirements.
- Processes vehicle reinstatements and/or redemptions.
- Reviews repossession agency invoices, and posts to the AMW screen and forwards to the manager for payment.
- Handles impounded vehicles and secures their release.
- This position involves regular access to specified personal information of consumers, including, but not limited to, Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Minimum of One (1) year of Auto Collection experience preferred.
- High School Diploma and/or GED.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Possess, demonstrate, and effectively communicate a strong knowledge of the captive finance and auction industry.
- Can identify key industry drivers and develop strategies to mitigate negative impacts.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Knowledge of and compliant with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and local, state, and federal collection laws.
