
Network/System Engineer

- Manage design, configuration, and certification for a large or several small to medium systems
- Deal with most difficult or complex systems and generate new design ideas
- Interface with business areas to ensure all initiatives support business strategies and goals
- Primary liaison with vendors, consultants and Sr Tech Mgrs
- Interpret diverse business requirements into technical Collaboration and Productivity (CAP) solutions framework
- Provide technology roadmaps governed by strategic direction, business requirements as well as resourcing and financial constraints
- Work across multiple vendors and internal partners to produce technically excellent solutions architecture that is aligned to business needs and direction
- Provide impute to technical direction and frameworks to meet business needs
- Provide expert consultation for major network initiatives or incidents
- Produce and/or endorse network standards
- Provide guidance and recommendations specific to customer requirements
- Evaluate emerging technologies against business and IT strategic needs
- Serve as a contributor on network initiatives
- Update standards and guidelines as requested
- Review the feasibility of new and existing IT projects
- Write technical and business documentation
- Lead high level scoping and costing activities if required
- Develop strong linkage with the Architecture and Solutions team to deliver standard designs and ensure compliance
- Participate in peer reviews for high and low level designs
- Ensure LOB and production characteristics are understood
- Responsible for delivery of complex solutions on time and on budget
- Develop detailed, low level technical designs for complex Enterprise Voice Solutions
- Ensure successful delivery of technical solutions into the production environment
- Provide L3 support to resolve complex and visible production issues as required
- Accountable for certification environment oversight
- Design to meet customer's availability requirements
- Recommend and leverage tools to ensure effective platform management
- Evaluate high risk change
- Provide subject matter expertise to line of business, relationship managers, network teams including Operations
- Identify risks and recommend remediation process
- Engage with Product Management, Architecture and both internal and external partners to help drive technology roadmaps
- Work with client Architecture to help maintain specific multiyear technology roadmaps aligned with business unit plans
- Develop and maintain specific architecture blueprints and design standards (in an engineering repository)
- Certify project teams' compliance in accordance with the toll gate process entry and exit criteria
- Develop testing strategy and technology certification plan and review results
- BS or BA in engineering or computer science
- 10+ years of experience in networking industry
- 10+ years of experience in Voice and Collaboration industry
- Ability to thoroughly review, understand and interpret technology updates for applicability in the environment we support
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond under pressure
- Demonstrated work experience in similar capacity as an architect for large enterprise network
- Knowledge market data/exchange technologies
- Familiar with technology trends in networking, examples include but not limited to software defined networking (SDN), BYOD, SIP session management, etc.
- Expertise in voice technologies including but not limited to SIP Trunking and SIP interworking, voice over IP protocols (H.323/SIP), IP PBX, session management, etc.
- Expertise in Client, Genesys, Cisco voice platforms and unified communication and collaboration technologies
- Expertise in LAN/WAN technologies including but not limited wired/wireless LAN environments, data center networking, Intranet/extranet environments, load balancing, Hypervisor, Fibre channel as well as wide area networking technology such as IP/MPLS, SONET/SDH, DWDM technologies, IP Multicast (PIM, MBGP) and Quality of Service environment
- Experience with networking products such as routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls and WAN optimization products
- Able to maintain and update engineering documentation and standard operating procedures
- Knowledge of virtualization strategy with on-prem, public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid environments
- Experience in automating and scripting processes for configuration reconciliation to replace manual process
- Demonstrate extensive technical experience working with large VoIP network using Cisco Voice collaboration platforms and solutions including Call Manager/CUCM, Unity Connection Voice Mail, Jabber, Webex, Webex Teams, MRA, Expressway, Telepresence, CMS, TMS and video end points DX, SX, IX
- Spark and Spark Boards
- Firm understanding of VMWare vSphere virtualization with ESXi and vCenter
- Sound working knowledge of SRTP, RTP, Opus, SCCP, and SIP and SIP interworking
- Broad working knowledge of call routing in complex fortune 500 company with QSIG, MGCP, CAC, H323 and SIP
- Firm understanding of TDM, VoIP and call control disciplines as well as next generation networks using APIs, WebRTC, and HTML5
- Session Management knowledge, with experience integrating to Avaya Aura, Cisco SME, Acme, Asterisk and Sonus/Ribbon products
- SIP and Traditional ISDN/PRI Trunking and broad experience with carrier network, SIP trunking interworking including RFC standards
- Sonus/Ribbon Gateway Technology configuration and/or integration experience (2K,5K,7K and 9K)
- Layer 2 VLANs experience and configuration, internetworking using BGP, ISIS, OSPF
- Extensive understanding of QoS standards and best practice for Real Time media
- E911 configuration on Cisco products and West/Intrado
- SfB/Lync on premise and on line solutions
- Unimax Second Nature experience
- HPNA experience
- Splunk experience
- Microsoft Teams Voice integration experience
- Experience in financial industry
- Ability to work well independently and with a team
- Strong communication skills

- Knowledge of other vendors such as Juniper, Aruba, Arista, Cisco and Sonus/Ribbon
