ResponsibilitiesJob Summary
Supervises, assesses plans, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates patient care and staff development; determines and maintains unit or program needs and standards (using nursing process and evidence- based information). May provide direct patient care according to needs of the unit/program, and support system -wide clinical operations. The staff member provides comprehensive care based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit. Provision of care is given as described in the Honor Healthcare Patient Care Policies and service or unit specific Department Operating Policies. Providing clinical operation support system -wide. The Supervisor is required, track and trend operational budgets, meet with vendor representatives to facilitate product evaluation and administer staff disciplinary process through termination. Performance standards may vary depending on unit assigned; percentage of time spent performing duties also varies according to unit and staffing needs.
Essential Functions
  • Supervises personnel assigned to the section. Plans, establishes, and revises work assignments and schedules. Interviews, selects, and hires personnel. Completes changes in classification, salary action, promotion, demotion, transfer, and termination. Uses evidence-based knowledge in the decision making to improve and maintain high-quality cost-effective patient care. Administers performance evaluation in collaboration with the Director. Administers staff disciplinary process through termination.
  • Monitors, maintains and tracks and trends annual capital and operational budgets. Approves time and attendance via report express. Evaluates utilization and availability of equipment, supplies, and space. Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels. Facilitates product evaluation and meets with vendor representatives.
  • Contributes to the recruitment and retention of talented staff through positive role-modeling, fostering peer relationships, staff education, and participating in preceptor and/ or mentor programs thereby creating an environment for quality practice in all clinical procedures performed in the Cath, Electrophysiology, and/or Interventional Labs.
  • Regularly rounds with physicians to facilitate quality practice. Meets with patient and /or family on concerns.
  • Serves as a resource to others, including staff, patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and visitors. Facilitates inter/intra departmental collaboration, communication and promotes problem solving.
  • Provides input into the short and long-term goals of the unit/area and supports structure and processes for improvement. Identifies needs for new programming dedicated to sub-specialties and department problem development with manager direction.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited NLN/CCNE or ARRT program or accredited Cardiovascular Ultrasound Program - Preferred
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited NLN or ARRT program or accredited Cardiovascular Ultrasound Program State Licensure. - Required
Experience
  • 2 to 3 years Supervisor experience - Preferred
  • 5 to 7 years Clinical experience - Preferred
  • 1 year Supervisor experience - Required
  • 3 years Clinical experience - Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) ACLS - Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) BLS - Required
  • Other Non-Invasive Cardiology - at least one of the following certifications: Current ARDMS (American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) credentials in: a. RDCS (AE) (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Adult Echo), b. RDCS (PE) or (FE) (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Pediatric Echocardiography or Fetal Echocardiography) c. RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) d. RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or Current CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) credentials in: a. RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer), b. RCCS (Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer) c. ACS (Advanced Cardiac Sonographer) d. RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist) - Required
