  • You will interpret/transliterate in a variety of communication modes for command-wide work-related events such as special programs, formal conferences, all hands meetings, performance appraisals, counselling sessions, award ceremonies, etc.
  • You will determine the needs for interpreter services and schedule time according to customer requirements.
  • You will interpret discussions, so all parties involved are able to accurately communicate.
  • You will use a wide range of technical and nontechnical vocabulary to produce grammatically correct translations.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Interpreting in a variety of communication modes for work related events; 2) Adopting to accents and regional differences in both English and American Sign Language (ASL); 3) Coordinating all interpreting service requests and creating schedules according to customer requirements; 4) Developing and conducting training on deaf culture and related issues for supervisors, managers, counselors and employees; 5) Assisting in the identification of barriers and the resolution of difficult communication problems between supervisors and deaf/hh employees.Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site:Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
