IGNITE @ MTC: Igniting Growth in Novel Innovations Through Education, is a $6 million, 36-month federally funded workforce development initiative focused on advancing the Midlands region's manufacturing sector. Under the direction of the Grants Project Director, this employee works under minimum supervision but has high responsibility and accountability. This individual must be self-motivated, organized, possess sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and be a creative problem solver. The instructional designer will also collaborate with the Curriculum Developer and other team members in the grant-funded office supporting the EVET and GET initiatives.The instructional designer will support faculty with the integration of appropriate teaching and learning strategies and tools in their courses, including in-person, hybrid, and online formats. This position will have a specialized focus on developing and supporting Open Educational Resources (OER) and instructional materials for the General Engineering Technology (GET) Certificate and the Electric Vehicle Engineering Technology (EVET) associate degree programs. The designer will also support faculty training initiatives related to these programs. Work outcomes will have a direct and highly visible impact on the quality of instruction, services, and reputation of MTC.Position requires local travel and attendance at events outside of normal work hours.
A bachelor's degree in education, engineering technology, applied science, or another directly related field.
Experience in curriculum development.
A master's degree in education, engineering technology, applied science, or another directly related field.
Knowledge of instructional design principles and curriculum development, especially in STEM or technical education.
Familiarity with OER platforms, repositories, licensing, and content adaptation.
Experience working with faculty to support instructional innovation and student-centered learning.
Ability to conduct educational research and evaluate the quality of instructional content.
Comfort with educational technologies, including LMS platforms and design tools.
Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
