Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant HomecareLocation: Orlando, FLPayrate: $37 $47/hrPosition SummaryThe Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides skilled occupational therapy services in the home setting under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, assisting patients in regaining functional independence, and ensuring quality care in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan of Care Implementation
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions as directed by the OT, including ADL training, mobility exercises, and cognitive-perceptual strategies.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on safe self-care techniques and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, tolerance, and performance.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Coordinate closely with supervising OT and interdisciplinary team.
  • Report patient changes and incidents promptly.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences as needed.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation within 24 48 hours.
  • Use standardized assessment tools where applicable.
  • Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and compliance with audit standards.
Patient Safety & Education
  • Promote home safety through hazard identification and adaptive strategies.
  • Reinforce the OT's treatment and home exercise programs.
  • Instruct patients on joint protection, energy conservation, and compensatory techniques.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current, active COTA license in the state of Florida.
  • CPR/BLS certification. (Required)
  • 1+ year of experience preferred; homecare experience highly desired.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficient in therapeutic activities and home safety instruction.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and CMS guidelines.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in diverse home environments.
