The Client's IT Telecom Services & Expense Management Unit is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Financial Project Manager to help lead and optimize financial processes related to telecommunications and IT service expenses. This role supports strategic initiatives to reduce telecom costs, streamline reporting, and improve financial oversight. The selected candidate will work closely with Operations Support Analysts to manage high-level financial data, analyze vendor expenses, and provide insights to drive cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and refine processes to manage telecom and IT-related costs, including wireless, landline, cloud, and data center services.
- Analyze vendor and carrier invoices for accuracy, contract compliance, and billing discrepancies.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities by eliminating inefficiencies and optimizing telecom services.
- Prepare detailed budget variance reports, financial forecasts, and project cost summaries.
- Track planned vs. actual spending across multiple projects and reporting cycles.
- Monitor financial status of ongoing projects and generate regular updates for leadership.
- Assist with mid-year and year-end budgeting processes, including forecasting and fund rollovers.
- Compare vendor payments against contract funding and investigate any financial variances.
- Support reporting needs with high-volume financial data analysis and dashboard generation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial reporting with project goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or telecom expense management within a large organization preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large datasets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions), and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Familiarity with financial systems such as PeopleSoft and reporting tools like ServiceNow.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial insights clearly to stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and data integrity.
- Prior experience in telecom, utilities, public sector, or enterprise IT financial operations.
- Proven ability to optimize budget tracking, resource allocation, and financial reporting processes.
