
HR Benefits Specialist

- Expert of terminology within the Benefits Department (knows the different acronyms, what each report is, where to find certain materials, reports, employee data, etc.
- Keeps benefits inbox neat and organized, while providing responses to inquiries in a timely manner (3pm policy: If inquiry is received by 3pm response same business day. After 3pm, response by 3pm the following business day)
- Cross train duties with others in Benefits Department
- Main Point of contact for any inquiries/issues for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Voluntary Benefit plans
- Processes temporary card requests for all applicable benefit plans on Tuesdays/Thursdays
- Processes invoices for all benefit carriers with finance for payment, adds to expense tracking spreadsheet for budget analysis
- Stays up to date on all plan design changes for different benefit programs to properly explain each plan to team members
- Assists with gathering information for annual audits(401(K), NDT testing for HSA/FSA, etc.)
- Reviews incoming National Medical Support Orders to determine eligibility, sends email notifying team members/HR about the order and ensures children are enrolled
- Reviews weekly report for team members on leave, updates Leave of Absence Log and adds non-union team members into Direct Bill system each week
- Sends over Open Enrollment changes to Direct Bill Carrier in a timely manner prior to effective date
- Reviews Leave of Absence Management emails to ensure they are being sent to the proper HR team leaders; sends all ADA requests to Senior Benefits Manager
- Process any life insurance claims, guides beneficiaries through the process when necessary
- Reports on any structural issues/changes to Benefits Analyst
- Ensures all benefit marketing materials within HRIS system/company intranet is up to date
- Administers the Health & Wellness monthly communication plan with marketing
- Assist in configuration of Open Enrollment, provide information about Open Enrollment to the local HR team/team members
- Confirm contribution limits in Benefits Administration system are correct annually
- Completes Non-Discrimination Testing for HSA/FSA plans annually
- Ensures all compliance filings are completed timely
- 2-3 years’ experience in human resources
- Some Knowledge of ERISA, employee benefit programs, including flexible benefit programs, financial analysis and budgeting
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, planning and problem-solving skills
- Must have superior organizational skills and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects.
- Able to work independently as required to complete assigned tasks, and operate within a team environment
- Able to shift priorities and effectively perform under pressure.
- Demonstrated capability in building trusted partnerships at all levels of the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
