The job of Transportation Supervisor is to provide leadership and support within the Transportation Department with specific responsibilities for the scheduling and coordinating of the regularly scheduled routes, field trips and transportation for special events. Applicants must possess professional communication skills, have an excellent attendance history and be a team player.Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsMust have CDL, C, B with P,S and Air Brake Michigan License.Must pass State and FBI Criminal Background CheckMust pass DOT physical and drug screenSkills and AbilitiesSkills needed to perform multiple tasks with a potential to develop skills to meet changing job description; operating two-way radio, operating standard office equipment including using related software applications, performing standard clerical procedures, preparing and maintaining accurate records. School bus drivers are required through their employment to perform various tasks. These physical tasks require varying degrees of lifting, pulling, bending and carrying of heavy objects.Ability to schedule a number of meetings or events, coordinate scheduling of drivers and substitutes for routes. Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals. Flexibility to work well with others in a variety of circumstances. Problem solving skills to analyze issues and create plans to resolve those issues. Ability to meet deadlines and manage schedules, work with detailed information, respecting confidentiality, and work with frequent interruptions.Essential FunctionsDispatch bus drivers and assign substitute drivers as necessary for the purpose of ensuring that all routes are covered for the transportation of students, covering routes, trips, Wilson Trade Center (WTC) and garage maintenance.Transportation Supervisor will be required to drive a school bus when necessary or as needed.Recruit and train new bus driversConduct trip bid meetings and assign subs to cover routes.Knowledge of the routing system and have the ability to make changes.Establish safe and efficient transportation routes.Keep records of bus mileage and schedule maintenance as needed. Monitor sub bus usage.View recorded tapes from buses to review and respond to passenger behavioral concerns.Prepare payroll for the accounting department. Prepare accurate billing information for field trips and fuel services. Monitor and approve the billing for fuel services.Monitor driver attendance and maintain records of drivers to assure qualifications are kept up to date.Maintain a variety of records, manual and electronic, for the purpose of providing up-to-date and or historical data in accordance with administrative guidelines and legal requirements.Answer telephone calls, check voicemail and email for changes, respond to inquiries from students, staff, or parents regarding location stops, manage policies for the purpose of providing the necessary information regarding transportation services.Check stop locations to assure they fall within the legal regulations and laws.Help to organize and prepare for Kindergarten Round-up.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the transportation unit.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Punctual, reliable and predictable attendance is requiredPerforms other duties as required.The responsibilities are to be able to provide standard practices, lead, guide and coordinate others under limited supervision.Candidates interested in making an application should send a letter of interest, resume and transcripts to Superintendent Brian Friddle ator the Superintendent’s Office at100 Price Avenue Ste A.
