
Engineering Technical Specialist III - Procurement

- Develop technical and quality assurance specifications in support of purchasing nuclear plant materials and services, derived from a detailed knowledge of plant system design and programmatic requirements.
- Develop commercial grade dedication plans for acceptance testing and inspection of commercial grade products in accordance with EPRI NP-5652 to verify suitability for use as basic components in accordance with 10 CFR 21.3.
- Perform evaluations of alternate replacement items to meet system and component design basis requirements.
- Ability to identify failure effects and perform failure modal analysis of a variety of electrical and electronic commodities, analog and digital systems and sub-systems, instrumentation and control equipment, and power generating and distribution equipment.
- Serve as the Technical Specialist in support of quality assurance audits and surveys at vendor's facilities in support of product manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with nuclear quality assurance requirements and industry standards.
- Technical Specialists may perform some analysis and design work, but do not possess the educational background to function as a degreed engineer.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
- Must successfully pass all course testing requirements in the Engineering Support Personnel Orientation (ESPO) training program to qualify for this nuclear support role.
- Practical knowledge of applying of engineering principals, theories and practices.
- Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems related to electrical systems and digital hardware.
- Strong oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing; ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
- Ability to function effectively independently and as a member on a technical team.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Excellent personal computer skills including knowledge of applicable software programs.
- 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or
- 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
