The Manual Machinist will set up and operate manually controlled machines including lathes, mills, drill presses, and saws to produce precision components. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, precision, and quality workmanship.Responsibilities:
- Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
- Review drawings, blueprints, or samples for accurate production
- Operate manual machines: lathes, mills, drill press, hydraulic press, band/chop saws
- Use precision measuring tools: micrometers (ID & OD), dial gauges, threading wires, pitch gauges
- Select and align holding fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories
- Perform machining setups using jigs, blocks, and fixtures
- Maintain and clean machines and work area regularly
- Comply with all quality and safety policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Proficient in: engine lathe, vertical/horizontal mill, drill press, band saw
- Proficient in measuring tools: micrometers, calipers (digital, dial, vernier), pitch gauges
- Ability to:
- Determine proper thread sizes using machinist handbook
- Measure parts and fabricate replacements
- Machine/chase threads
- Perform basic math including fractions and ratios
- Read and interpret technical documents
- Minimum 1 year operating engine lathes, vertical/horizontal mills, band saws, and drill presses
- Preferred: Experience with thread measurement and various calipers and micrometers
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to work scheduled four-day, 10-hour shifts
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)
- Must pass pre-employment testing
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
