Job Description:Primary Purpose:Help special education teacher provide for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Associate’s degree, two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment requirementsValid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hireSpecial Knowledge and Skills:Ability to work with children with disabilitiesAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectivelyKnowledge of general office equipmentBasic first aid knowledge and CPRMinimum ExperiencePrior experience working with childrenWorking ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions.
