
Credit Manager

- Analyze creditworthiness of customers using financial statements, payment history, industry benchmarks, and external credit data
- Develop and maintain scoring models to evaluate risk and set credit limits
- Minimize bad debt exposure and maximize recovery of outstanding receivables
- Secure lien rights and personal guarantees where appropriate
- Identify emerging risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies
- Manage legal and third-party collection relationships, including Notice of Furnishings filings
- Oversee credit application reviews for new and existing accounts
- Authorize credit limits, payment terms, and special arrangements
- Continuously update customer credit profiles based on financial health and payment behavior
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit and collections professionals
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback
- Recruit and train staff to meet departmental goals
- Prepare monthly credit performance reports for executive leadership and Daikin Credit
- Monitor key metrics such as DSO, bad debt write-offs, recovery rates, and credit utilization
- Use data analytics to inform decisions and optimize processes
- Conduct monthly reviews with sales teams on aging receivables
- Ensure credit practices comply with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., fair lending, AML, consumer protection)
- Stay current with regulatory changes and adapt policies accordingly
- Liaise with legal and compliance teams on complex matters
- Collaborate with sales, finance, operations, and executive teams to align credit policy with business strategy
- Maintain relationships with credit bureaus and financial institutions
- Resolve client disputes involving credit decisions with professionalism and tact
- Align credit management practices with long-term business objectives
- Identify market trends and emerging technologies to enhance credit operations
- Lead special initiatives such as system upgrades or credit transformation projects
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools
- Strong presentation and communication skills across all organizational levels
- Creative, solution-oriented approach to problem solving
- High attention to detail and organizational discipline
- Ability to enforce policies while maintaining collaborative relationships
- Experience with AS400 systems, CFORIA, or other third-party collection software preferred
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Epicor P21
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in credit management, financial analysis, or risk management
- Proven success managing complex credit portfolios and leading high-performing teams
- Experience in the building products industry or similar commercial sectors preferred
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
- Master’s degree or professional certifications (CCE, CPA, CFA) strongly preferred
- Ongoing professional development in financial analysis, compliance, or risk management encouraged
