At Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you’ll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.Position Overview:The Capital Planning and Analytics team is seeking a confident, self-motivated, and analytical senior with strong financial analytical skills, project management, and communication skills.The Capital Planning and Analytics Senior will be responsible for supporting the team in creating and analyzing capital related processes and results to communicate complex patterns to executives and business users. The role will partner extensively with colleagues across Finance, Business Functions, Risk, Regulatory Affairs as well as other functions and lines of businesses. Key duties include capital planning and forecasting, capital analytics, capital reporting automation, capital optimization and preparation of Freddie Mac’s yearly Capital Plan deliverable to FHFA, etc.This role will report into the Capital Planning and Analytics Sr Manager.Our Impact:The Capital Planning and Analytics division is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and optimization of capital. The team focuses on the oversight of all capital management, capital planning and elements related to risk appetite and capital contingency, as well as strategic and policy initiatives. The team’s activities are focused on both business-as-usual and stress environments and ties closely with other areas within the Finance function including Financial Planning and Analysis and Stress Testing. Our team:Oversees the capital forecasting processPrepares Annual Capital Plan submission to FHFACollaborates with the divisional finance and business areas as well as division risk officers (DROs) in the implementation of the recently enacted Enterprise Capital Rule and coordinates associated regulatory submissions, in particular the yearly Capital Plan.Drives the optimization of capital in partnership with other areas within Finance and the business areas to improve the systems and processes currently used to perform these activities.Develops the strategies and tools to accurately measure and optimize capital capacity and ratios and related measures.The Capital Planning Team reports to the VP of Capital who reports to the Chief Financial Officer and this is an excellent opportunity to be part of a results-driven team that will implement Freddie Mac’s Capital Planning and Management StrategyYour Impact:As a member of the Capital Planning and Analytics Team you will:Assist in preparation of the capital forecasts for quarterly forecasting cycle, as well as yearly capital plan development and DFAST cycleGather and analyze financial data to assist in developing strategies and methodology to optimize capital utilizationUnderstand capital data structure and make enhancements to the structure and/or reports as needed; Assist in automation of capital reporting and forecasting in M+Work on initiatives that will provide a unique opportunity to gain a broad understanding of many key business attributes related to capital planning, management, analytics, and forecastingCollect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information from internal and external sources with attention to detailCollaborate with fellow team members and other participants within Capital team and others in the Finance organization as well as the Risk organization (second line)Construct detailed presentation decks, reports, and assist with project management of the Capital Plan, Capital Forecasting and Capital Optimization.Demonstrate understanding of internal business segment (partners) and build capability to acquire relevant data and information efficiently for capital analysisCollaborate with fellow team members and other participants within Capital ManagementBuild and maintain reporting templates and documentation of methodologies and execution to support governance requirementsQualifications:Required 5-9 years of related experience in capital reporting, planning, forecasting and analytics in banking industry, financial servicing companies and consulting firms etcStrong analytical skills, problem-solving skills and detailed oriented; Strong communication and critical thinking skills to engage with senior leadershipAbility to deliver positive change in sophisticated organizations with a high-level engagement and time managementHigh proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel required; Experience with Tableau, Hyperion Smartview, preferredProject Management experience strongly preferredAn undergraduate degree is required.Keys to Success in this Role:Demonstrate good understanding of the capital requirements under the Enterprise Regulatory Capital Framework and their relation to BASEL IIIStrong analytical, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environmentAbility to use data to help inform strategy and directionDemonstrates the ability to build good relationships across the organizationShow flexibility in thinking as we develop new processes as multiple iterations are likely to happen before a workstream is completedProvide resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems.
