This role supports both Inside Plant (ISP) environments and network equipment deployments, playing a key role in enabling secure, high-performance communications and IT services. Working closely with network engineers, ISP / OSP technicians, and project managers, the Journeyman Network Technician is responsible for implementing structured cabling systems, installing network devices, performing connectivity testing, and resolving end-to-end infrastructure issues.Position may be located at Cheyenne Mountain SFS and/or Peterson SFB.This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.#clearance
ResponsibilitiesMajor Job Activities:
  • Assists engineers and technicians with placement of infrastructure components, pre-configuration.
  • Performs tasks involving physical labor at installation sites to aid daily operations.
  • Assists in movement of equipment, racks, boxes, and pallets. Assists in cleanup and restoration of facilities to preinstall conditions.
  • Dispose of waste materials.
  • Performs site preparation and implementation activities required to implement approved ISP / OSP solution.
  • Assists in the installation of ISP / OSP cabling, installation of racks / cabinets and equipment.
  • Follows processes and procedures provided by management or lead engineers.
  • May assist in test and validation activities as directed.
  • Performs cable dressing, labeling, and documentation.
  • Assists in restoration activities to return site to previous condition before project work.
  • Tracks task status to provide updates to management or lead engineers.
  • Updates reports or task logs as directed.
  • Work is performed under supervision but has capability to work independently to complete complex assignments; may provide guidance and direction to junior laborers or technicians.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and AutoCAD drawings, specifically rack elevation drawings and floor plans to install data network equipment hardware, power supplies, UPS, and wireless access points.
  • Proficient with writing reports and updating data in MS Excel and Word.
Working Environment:Office environment with potential to support austere locations.Physical Activities:Must be able to lift / carry 75 lbs.
QualificationsEducation / Certifications:
  • High School Diploma
Experience / Skills:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience performing as a Network Technician with a High School Diploma.
  • Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects.
Clearance Requirement:
  • This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) TS-SCI (Tier 5) level clearance.
Skills & Technology Used:
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and AutoCAD drawings, specifically rack elevation drawings and floor plans to install data network equipment hardware, power supplies, UPS, and wireless access points.
  • Proficient with writing reports and updating data in MS Excel and Word.
