Delivery of MCTI’s ASE-Certified Service Technician curriculum to cohorts of 12 – 14 student apprentices

Ensuring the program participants are engaging in safe behavior at all times

Ensuring program participants wear the provided safety equipment

Ensuring program participants gain a solid academic understanding of the program’s classroom content

Ensuring program participants gain a fundamental understanding of skills lab tools and equipment

Ensuring program participants gain the necessary hands-on skills to be successful in an auto dealership / repair shop environment

Tracking and recording all lecture content test scores and skills lab competencies

Assisting participants in scheduling and obtaining necessary State of Michigan Learner’s Permits for working with employers

Working as a liaison between program employers and program site manager

Working as a liaison between program participants and employers

Scheduling Ford ACE Program Sponsor talks

Managing cleanliness and safety of the skills laboratory

Managing cleanliness of the classroom

Minimum Requirements

ASE Professional-Level-Certified in the four training credential areas: brakes, suspension and steering, electronics/electrical, engine performance

Basic computer skills

Internet research

Data entry

Familiarity with – and able to use at a functional level...

Create and save documents

Understand and navigate file system

Excel

Data entry

Strong desire to help others reach their potential in the field

Understanding of the ASE Entry / Professional Level Certification Process

Understanding of the ASE Professional-Level Certification to State of Michigan Licensure

Willingness to accept tutoring and guidance from professional teachers for the purpose of learning to use the curriculum, instructional techniques, classroom management, best practices, etc.

Preferred

Five years of experience as a State of Michigan-licensed Motor Vehicle Mechanic

Master Mechanic Certification or State of Michigan Certification in brakes, suspension and steering, electronics/electrical, engine performance

Solid understanding of ASE certification levels and State of Michigan licensure

Teaching / training experience

Strong computer skills

Basic computer troubleshooting skills
