In this role, you will assist Veterinarians in handling horses and recording sample data, playing a crucial part in ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations set forth by the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission. Apply today to enter the thrilling field of horse racing!DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, your responsibilities will include escorting designated horses from the unsaddling area to the Test Barn and ensuring they receive their assigned water bucket filled with clean, fresh water. You will also be responsible for providing horsemen with the necessary equipment while they are in the Test Barn, monitoring that the assigned horse drinks from the correct bucket, and ensuring it remains in the Test Barn until all samples have been collected. Additionally, you will collect urine samples from the assigned horses, package them according to established protocols, complete the required documentation, and maintain the integrity of the samples at all times. Proper maintenance of assigned equipment is essential, and you will assist the Commission Veterinarian with various tasks as needed. Furthermore, you may be required to perform other duties as directed by your supervisor, particularly during times of personnel shortages.Interested in learning more?   • This is a temporary part-time position
  • Typical work schedule is Monday - Wednesday, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and may change as determined by racing schedule
  • You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Experience in general farm work; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Post employment Requirement:
  • A Commission Employee License is required for this position once hired.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
