Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer in our Salt Lake City location. The Senior Traffic Engineer will be integral in identifying, pursuing, and executing traffic engineering projects and tasks with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and other state and local agencies. This role will offer the opportunity to work on a variety of project types and sizes, including design-build.Roles and Responsibilities:Lead and manage traffic design and traffic operation projects and tasks.Provide design oversight in producing roadway lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic signals, and traffic management system designs; intersection designs; capacity and signal warrant analyses; and ITS systems.Develop technical traffic analysis for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities utilizing multiple software and programs as necessary.Assist in providing oversight of maintenance of traffic (MOT) and sequencing plans throughout the construction phase of a project.Work with Client Accounting Managers and Project Managers for project reviews and with company management as needed.Implement client and internal QA/QC procedures.Support company’s strategic objectives, processes, and tools.Develops and maintains strong client relationships.Mentors, collaborates with, and oversees junior traffic staff members’ work.Builds team consensus/buy-in.Ensures the firm’s best interests are served when pursuing work.Required Skills:Technical Skills - Proficiency in using simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and/or CAD (MicroStation/AutoCAD).Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines, such as MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) and AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) standards.Innovative and solutions-oriented thinkerWorks collaboratively with team members, managers, and marketing professionals on client development effortsHolistically represents Wilson & CompanyContinual learner and implementer of best practicesRelationship builder, maintainer, and mentorGreat communicator and collaboratorStrong technically, including critical thinking skillsStrong leadership skills with proven ability to lead staff executing numerous concurrent tasks and prioritizing demands coming from multiple peopleRequired Experience:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field (masters: preferred)Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and/or a Road Safety Professional (RSP) Levels 1 or 2 (preferred).Five (5) + years of direct experiencePlease note that Wilson & Company is not currently sponsoring applicants for work visas.Annual Salary Range: $79,000 - $200,000+ (Depending on Experience)Why Salt Lake City:Salt Lake City offers a myriad of enticing opportunities for individuals seeking a blend of outdoor adventure, thriving urban culture, and a high quality of life.
