Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.Raytheon is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to provide unique packaging designs and engineering in support of purchased parts and assemblies, manufacturing processes and finished product outbound to our customers.Our products have a wide range of size and complexity from thumb drives to heavy weight and oversized major end items of radars, shelters and antennas. This position supports multiple major production programs by creating and maintaining the packaging solutions supporting preservation and shipment of deliverable products.In this role, you’ll balance multiple projects and customers in a dynamic manufacturing landscape, supporting cost reduction and process improvement initiatives as well as manufacturing activities on the production floor.What You Will DoDeveloping thoughtful, effective and innovative packaging solutions to support the preservation and safe shipment of all hardware.Creating packaging designs using CREO 3D CAD, including:Protective cushioned packsCorrugated structuresWood crates and assembliesVacuum formed plasticInitiating cost reductions and process improvementsTeaming with Mission Assurance, Test Engineering and Operations Personnel along with Traffic, Safety and EHS to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and with valueCreate and update work instructions to ensure all technical requirements are captured and met for assembly.Perform Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action when defects occur.Planning, coordinating and executing Package Performance testing using ASTM D 4169 and/or International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) protocolDeveloping and maintaining special packaging instructions and drawings meeting Military and Best Commercial standards.Proactively undertake safety initiatives including job hazard analysis and ergonomic assessments.Qualifications You Must HaveTypically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience.Hands on experience with CREO, or other CAD softwareExperience with project managementThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
