
Paramedic - Emergency Department

- Perform phlebotomy, IV starts, wound care, Foley catheter insertion, and airway management.
- Transport patients and place them on cardiac and vital sign monitors.
- Obtain and process lab specimens.
- Document procedures and observations; promptly communicate patient needs to licensed clinicians.
- Assist with medication administration and emergency response under clinician direction.
- Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings.
- Support and reinforce patient/family education and document learning outcomes.
- Process daily patient charges and procedures in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Facilitate communication between physicians, staff, and EMS systems.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and ensure equipment functionality.
- Perform patient positioning and transport using proper body mechanics.
- Provide age-appropriate care based on developmental and clinical needs.
- EMT-Paramedic license issued by the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) – required within 6 months.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA – required within 6 months.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA – required within 6 months.
- Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program.
- Typically requires 1 year of experience as a Paramedic or in a related clinical role.
- Completion of Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or equivalent may substitute for PALS.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with EHR systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain required certifications.
